Heating and Air Conditioning Services

Air temperature in the upper Midwest can swing from cool to warm — and back again, very quickly. Smart drivers want their vehicles' interiors to be comfortable no matter what's going on outside, so they count on Galaxy Auto Centers to service their heating and air conditioning systems, using the best equipment and products available.

If you have an older vehicle, you may be wondering how environmental regulations related to the use of coolant could affect maintenance and repairs to your car's air conditioning system. Freon® (the trade name for the coolant R-12) was used in automotive air conditioning systems for decades before it was discovered that this gas damaged the protective ozone layer above the earth. Its use in automotive refrigeration was discontinued and an EPA-rated coolant called R-134a is now used instead.

If your older car or truck needs air conditioning work, you will be told if Galaxy can repair it as is, or if the vehicle's HVAC system needs to be retrofitted first. Galaxy will recommend retrofitting — which is a fancy name for changing out some of the car's existing cooling components for others that will allow the cooling system to accept R-134a — if no other acceptable options are available to keep your car's cooling system working well.

Galaxy's trained technicians can keep your heating and air conditioning systems working so well that you'll be cocooned in the right temperature, even when rush hour gets bad.
